We are seeking a Maintenance Specialist to perform basic repairs, preventative care and maintenance on rental homes. This position requires hands-on experience in plumbing (drain and supply), electrical repair and replacement of common fixtures such as lights and outlets, gas pipe and leak detection. Additionally, general maintenance responsibilities such as hanging doors, replacing window glass, drywall patching, and painting.

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform maintenance on occupied homes: painting, drywall patching, replacing window glass, hanging doors, etc.
  • Inspect vacant properties to determine the scope of work needed to return the property to an appealing, safe home for a future resident.
  • Inspect occupied properties to identify deferred maintenance, areas of resident non-compliance, and general condition for the property manager.
  • Meet Section 8 and other housing authorities to conduct initial or annual inspections to identify items to be repaired to pass the inspection.
  • Toledo Lead Safe Certification: Walk properties for peeling paint, document for the property manager. Make and document repairs ahead of inspection by a clearance technician.
  • Participate in company best-practice training covering technical procedure for repairs including an 8-hour federal Renovation Repair Paint (RRP) company sponsored certification.
  • Serve in a team environment, learn as you can and teach where you are able.
  • Telephone conversations with residents to schedule repairs.
  • iPad based Work Order system to track repairs including travel time, time on site, detailed notes of the repair and before/after photos
  • Follow dress code and health and safety laws to reduce accidents and protect residents.
  • Opportunity to participate in the company off-hours schedule for emergency repairs.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of basic maintenance including plumbing, electrical, appliance repairs, HVAC, and carpentry
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Respectful communication towards others
  • Valid driver’s license able to be added to company insurance
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift or to move up to 75 pounds.

This is a full-time opportunity with competitive pay starting at $18 to beyond $25/hr for certified maintenance skills. Overtime paid during off-hours call outs. Must pass background check.
